The Senate is the supreme organ of the SAMS. It is composed of ordinary elected members as well as delegates and guests, a total of about 280 persons.
Ordinary elected members include individual, honorary, corresponding and emeritus members. Delegate members include representatives of medical faculties, members of the medical and nursing professions, and representatives of the Swiss Society of Dentists, the Swiss Society of Pharmacists and the Swiss Veterinary Society. Guests are representatives of the societies of medical disciplines and other individuals. The statutes of the SAMS contain precise information on the composition of the Senate and its tasks.
